What is a traineeship?
Are traineeship bost a flexible enjoyable training program. with the added extra of real time work experience that unlocks the great potential in young people, aged 16 to 24, and prepares them for their future careers by helping them to become ‘work ready’.
Every traineeship includes a period of high-quality work experience placement with a sector specific employer with associated work preparation training to teach employability skills to support progression into a career or apprenticeship.
You will work towards English and maths qualifications if needed to give you the necessary skills and qualifications to help secure an apprenticeship or job.
A traineeship has three core elements:
Traineeships are ideal if you want to move into a job or apprenticeship but do not currently have the skills and experience that employers are looking for.
Traineeships are available for anyone who is aged between 16-24 who does not have a qualification at Level 3 (A-level equivalent) or above.
Since a traineeship is a full-time programme designed to aid in gaining employment you would need to be either unemployed, or work fewer than 16 hours per week and have little work experience, to qualify.
Employers are not required to pay you for doing a traineeship but may support you with expenses such as transport and meals.
